Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach

One of NZ natural jewels is located on the East coast of Coromandel. To cross the peninsula I took the famous "road 309"... there were that many Kauri trees in the past now only 16 survived.
Stop for a (much needed) cold shower at the Waiau falls.
T'choupi in front of the twin Kauri.
Stingray Bay is not far from our camping (with Erica and Rob) in Hahei.
How do you protect such a perfect landscape? You have to walk 40 min to reach Cathedral Cove.
Two beaches are connected by this cave.
It is not a small cave but a big tree.
You want some dried fruits huh?
T'choupi would like to be on the cover of the next edition of the Lonely Planet NZ...
I  think I will come back when better weather ...
Another interesting spot is Hot Water Beach: underground magma is heating a precise spot on the beach and by low tide you can dig a hole and turn it into a hot pool for several people. We went there at 11pm as we depended from the tides... no pictures but great stories!

We've even had some cider while in the natural hot tub! Everything was going well when Rob realized he had lost his car keys. Looking for the keys on a beach at 1 am with the tide going up... checking by the car, nothing. Maybe they are in the trunk? We have to hitchhike to come back to the Camping.
The next day is a Sunday but we get a car technician to come open the trunk and when we arrive at the car the keys are on the windshield... Someone found the keys, tested with the remote and dropped them on the car. Honesty made in NZ.
